Dear JRSOs,

Unfortunately we are unable to go ahead with the recent competition due to lack of interest.

The prize was kindly donated by Conkers and entitled the winner to free admission on one occasion between now and the end of October 2010.  The family ticket covers three adults and two children between the ages of 3 and 15.

As this is such a fantastic prize we have decided to put your names in a hat and draw the lucky winner on Monday 5th July 2010.  All you have to do to be included in the draw is write just one short paragraph about what you have done to promote road safety in your school and send it to me no later than Friday 2nd July 2010 to be in with a chance of winning a day out.  If you are one of our younger JRSO’s then why not ask a grown up to help you?

Is your school taking part?

For more information about Bike Week you can either ask at school or telephone the Road Safety and Travel Awareness Team on 0116 305 6579.

Why not design a poster for your Road Safety notice board and then run a cycling competition for your school.  Remember to order your prizes in plenty of time for the winners.

If your school is not taking part this year, remember that bike week also includes the weekends so you can still get involved with your families.

If you cannot attend any of the activities on offer, why not talk mum, dad, carers or grandparents into going on a family bike ride.  It would be an excellent opportunity for you to practice your cycling skills in time for bike week.

Every year we send all of our School Crossing Patrols a Christmas card to say thank you for the excellent job they do in making sure that children are safe whilst crossing the roads to and from school each day.  The card that we usually send is a bit boring as it has traffic lights and road signs on it and we would really like to send them a card that would be special to them.

The winners attended the game as VIP guests through a county-wide competition to come up with a design for a beermat or drinks coaster, and the children enjoyed a behind the scenes tour  before kick-off.

At the event the crowd were reminded of the dangers of drinking and driving with messages displayed around the stadium.

The JRSOs were  presented with framed copies of their winning entries and also saw their designs displayed outside the ground.
