Emergency Vehicles

It is always important that we take care every time we use the road.

Sometimes we use the roads as a pedestrian which means we use the roads on foot.

Sometimes we use the roads as a passenger in a motor vehicle.

Sometimes we use the roads as cyclists riding a bike.

There are many simple rules that we can remember to stay safe.

1. Wear something bright when the weather is poor and wear something reflective when you go out at night.

2. Always wear your seatbelt when you go out in a car.

3. Always wear a helmet when out on your bike

We do know a lot of these rules. It is just putting them into practice that is hard.

When people make mistakes when using the roads we may have to call for help from one of the emergency services. When called, the emergency services respond quickly and we will often hear them coming before we see them.

Did you know that sirens on emergency vehicles use are set at different tones, so as well as hearing them approaching, we can also detect from which direction they are travelling.

So, next time you hear an emergency siren look in the direction you think it is coming from. You will probably be correct. Remember they do move quickly so allow the vehicle to pass before you carry on your journey.
