When you use the roads you must remember the rules of the Highway Code.

The Highway Code is a book that contains rules and guidance for everyone:

· Pedestrians

· Cyclists

· Drivers

· Horse Riders

· Motor Cyclists

As a pedestrian on our way to and from school and when we go out at home we must all remember:

· Pavements and footpaths should be used if provided. Try not to walk too close to the kerb.

· If there is no footpath or pavement, walk on the right hand side of the road so that you can see the oncoming traffic and it can see you.

· Help other road users to see you. Wear or carry something bright or fluorescent in poor daylight and when it’s dark use reflective materials which can be seen by drivers using their headlights.

· When you cross the road use the rules of the Green Cross Code:

1. Find a safe place to cross

2. Stop at the kerb

3. Look all around for traffic

4. If traffic is coming, let it pass

5. When it is safe, go straight across the road – Do not run.

Always remember to: Arrive Alive
