As we walk along the street it is a good time to look at all the things around us that make us aware of traffic and the road.
So, what is?
· The pavement: The pavement is the place at the side of the road where people walk
· The kerb: The kerb is the edge of the pavement
· Road signs:Road signs tells you information about the road ahead
· Pedestrian crossing:These are special places where people can cross the road safely. A pelican crossing and zebra crossing are just two examples.
· Traffic:Traffic is anything that uses the road. So, if you ride your bicycle on the roads either to school or to your friends or the park you are traffic on the roads too.
· The Green Cross Code:The Green Cross Code is a guide for everyone to cross the road safely. Have a look at the poster that is displayed on the noticeboard (if you have displayed it).
As always, remember to:
Arrive Alive
Walking to school can help keep us fit and healthy. Do you walk to school?
WHAT AM I?
Now I can be incredibly boring
When it comes to describing me
There’s not a lot to write about
And not a lot to see
But where you stop is important
When crossing the road each time
For no one stops to tell you
And I don’t come with a sign.
To stop, look and listen
Is a very important rule
Check that you stand just behind me
And you’ll be really cool
Yes, it’s a KERB
Always remember to……
Arrive Alive
